GREAT QUESTION!
Every cow is different so all portions will have a different hanging weight.
When the animal goes to the butcher the meat's price is based on its hanging weight. This will be paid to us (KrisCo Farms) before the meat can be picked up from the butcher. (Contact us for more information).
There are separate butcher’s processing fees which range from $0.90 – $1.40 per pound. These butcher fees are also charged on the hanging weight. The harvest fee is determined by the butcher.
Average hanging weights:
1/4: 150-160 lbs
1/2: 300-350 lbs
1 Full: 600-650 lbs
Most of our Grass Fed Beef is ready in the late fall. HOWEVER, we have meat available throughout the year. Please let us know, drop us a note, about when you want the meat and we will get it to you!
